Godrej & Boyce installs 400 kV gas-insulated substation in Bihar

Godrej & Boyce on Thursday told the media that it has commissioned a 400 kilovolts (kV) gas-insulated substation (GIS) at Naubatpur and Jakkanpur towns in Bihar.

The Power Infrastructure and Renewable Energy (PIRE) business unit of Godrej & Boyce Mfg Co Ltd commissioned the substation.

The company will link the towns on a state-level grid through 400 kilovolts (kV), 220 kV, 132 kV & ampere (amp); 33 kV transmission lines, contributing to the Patna district by the easy access to reliable quality power with a transformation capacity of 1000 mega volt-ampere (MVA).

This is the first-ever 400 kV GIS substation in Bihar, as per the company.

It will ensure reliable power availability to the emerging industrial and residential sectors in the region and potentially improve the industrial growth opportunities by transmitting electricity to the emerging industrial installations.

The company's Senior Vice President & Business Head, Electricals & Electronics Division, Raghavendra Mirji told the media that the company aims to ensure more such opportunities and reach out to other markets and smaller towns to play a vital role in enhancing the quality of power transmission in the future.
