Gensol Engineering, in partnership with Matrix Gas & Renewables, has secured a contract worth Rs 1.64 billion to develop India's first Bio-Hydrogen project. The consortium was selected as the lowest bidder for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the project, which aims to convert 25 tonne of bio-waste into 1 ton of hydrogen per day.

The project, set to be completed within 18 months, aligns with India's National Green Hydrogen Mission and represents a significant advancement in sustainable energy. Gensol and Matrix have collaborated with Westinghouse, USA, to utilise their patented Pre-Gasification Plasma Induced Radiant Energy-Based Gasification System (GH2-PREGS) technology.

Anmol Singh Jaggi, Chairman and Managing Director of Gensol Engineering, commented on the development by expressing honour at being the lowest bidder for the EPC of India's first biomass-to-green hydrogen project. He highlighted that the project is a crucial part of their commitment to innovation in the renewable energy sector. Chirag Kotecha, Whole-time Director of Matrix Gas & Renewables, noted that the project signifies a major step forward in the nation's energy transition mission.

The project will be developed in collaboration with India's leading power generation company and is considered a milestone in the country's efforts toward green hydrogen. Gensol and Matrix, backed by common promoters, plan to continue their joint efforts in the Green Hydrogen sector, with future ventures into Green Steel and Green Ammonia.
