Diamond Power begins Production at First Mill in Greenfield Project

Diamond Power Infrastructure has commenced commercial production at its first rod mill for manufacturing Next Generation AL 59 Wire Rods. The facility, located in Vadodara, is operated by its wholly owned subsidiary, DICABS NextGen Special Alloys. The newly established mill has a processing capacity of 80 metric tonne (MT) per day, amounting to 2,400 MT per month.

DICABS NextGen Special Alloys is currently developing a Green Field project that will feature three rod mills with a combined processing capacity of 250 MT per day, or 7,500 MT per month. The project, with an estimated investment of Rs 550 million, aims to produce advanced aluminium-based alloys designed for efficient power transmission.

At present, the company operates its own rod mill with a monthly capacity of 1,200 MT. The addition of the new mill is expected to significantly enhance the company’s conductor production capacity. In India, the annual demand for AL 59 conductors is approximately 1,000,000 MT, but only five manufacturers have integrated rod mills capable of producing high-quality AL 59 conductors. Together, these manufacturers have a total production capacity of 500,000 MT per year.

To help bridge this supply gap, DICABS NextGen Special Alloys aims to produce 75,000 MT of AL 59 conductors annually, strengthening its position in the market while supporting the growing demand for efficient power transmission solutions.
