Enhancing productivity and achieving manufacturing goals:
This is what Atlas Copco in India offers its customers. With manufacturing facilities in Pune, Chakan, Nashik and Hyderabad, the company has two engineering competency centres - for compressors and construction and mining equipment - and manufactures vacuum equipment, industrial power tools, and construction and mining equipment. Nitin Lall, General Manager, Power Technique Customer Center, Atlas Copco India, shares more on the company's recent launches in conversation with SHRIYAL SETHUMADHAVAN.

How do you view the market scenario, especially for the products you specialise in?
The market is going strong and we see continued investments in the roads and metro projects.
This affects power technique with investments coming into the quarrying area, where we see affordable compressors in collaboration with training equipment. This is required for rock material, which is crushed; this is the foundation of any large project, whether it is roads, railways or commercial buildings. So I see a continuous flow in investment in the segment. Atlas Copco helps large companies work after the sun sets with its lighting towers. These are LED light towers.
We launched them at Excon last year and started selling them aggressively from the first quarter of this year.

What is the USP of your recently introduced products?
Atlas Copco uses a beautiful word called 'sustainable productivity', wherein our compressors provide you the desired air at a pressure that no other competitor usually does. For the safe generation of air and pressure, the company uses less diesel, which is usually our unique selling point. And we still continue to innovate in that area.
The lighting tower is unique as it is the only lighting tower in the industry that consumes less than 0.9 litre of diesel in one hour. It uses LED light and is the only light tower in India at present that qualifies under the Central Pollution Control Board as it is soundproof in every way.

How has the market response been for your range of compressors and lighting towers?
I am extremely happy with the response received. We launched two brilliant products at the right time; considering the number of ongoing projects, the market looks robust.
As far as business growth is concerned, we are experiencing growth in excess of 15 per cent at present. And I do not see a situation where we cannot maintain a similar trend in future.

Share an update on future launches.
We will be launching at least two different models of compressors.
We are looking at launching electrical units and a compressor that actually bridges the gap in the segment of 200 PSI. We also see good investments in digitalisation. In this direction, we are working towards digitalisation of our products - connecting with our customers for immediate solutions digitally. This feature is already launched and is available on various existing machines. Essentially, we receive alerts on the kind of services the machine requires and proactively offer solutions. This ensures zero breakdowns on the machine and longer life.
