CESL enters pacts with Meghalaya, Ladakh for 65 MW decentralised solar
CESL has signed a 60 MW MoU with Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Ltd (MePDCL), which will also entail finding business synergies to implement various sustainable solutions in the north-eastern state of Meghalaya, such as -- pump sets, LED lighting, and solar power stations for agriculture.
CESL will undertake numerous clean energy and energy efficiency programmes in collaboration with the Union Territory of Ladakh, including a 5-MW decentralised solar power project in the Zanskar region.
Mahua Acharya, CEO and Managing Director of CESL, cites that the company is honoured to work with state government agencies to strive towards a cleaner and greener future.
Decentralised power is the way to go since it lowers the expenses of discoms, improves power quality, and provides an opportunity to green future demand by equipping people with energy-efficient equipment.
Shri RK Mathur, Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, commented on the agreement, stating that energy access is critical for Ladakh.
Further, Mathur added that the government is working to improve the quality of life in Ladakh by supplying renewable energy and energy-efficient solutions that can be applied in Ladakh's tough terrain.
This MoU with CESL, according to Shri Arunkumar Kembhavi, Chairman-Managing Director of MePDCL, will enable Meghalaya to be power self-sufficient. This initiative will save energy, reduce transmission and distribution (T&D) losses, and help the state expand its solar capacity.
These MoUs were signed on World Environment Day to provide states with clean, affordable, and reliable energy solutions.
It is an important step toward cementing India's position as a global green power and contributing to the country's clean energy footprint.
