Two young men, both traveling on a motorcycle, tragically lost their lives after a collision with a coal-laden heavy truck. The accident took place on a stretch of road under the Bhurkhunda police outpost, which is located en route to the Maithon power plant in Dhanbad. The truck, which was transporting coal to the power plant, crashed into the motorcycle, resulting in the deaths of both individuals.

In the wake of this devastating incident, hundreds of local villagers organized a massive protest, expressing their outrage over the deaths. They blocked the road for several hours, halting coal transportation to the power plant for a period of 10 hours. The protest was a direct response to the tragic loss of life and the perceived lack of safety measures on the road.

Bhurkhunda outpost officer-in-charge Nirbhay Gupta confirmed that the two victims were young men from the Barkagaon area in Hazaribag district. He explained that the incident occurred late on Sunday night when the motorcycle collided with the truck. Gupta shared that 19-year-old Shivnandan Murmu died instantly at the scene, while 20-year-old Suresh Soren sustained serious injuries. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Soren succumbed to his injuries on the way.

The incident has sparked further concerns about road safety, especially for motorcyclists, and has prompted discussions on the need for better infrastructure and traffic regulations in the area to prevent such accidents in the future. The protest by the villagers underscores the local community’s frustration over the tragic loss of young lives and their demand for justice and accountability.
