CIL's CSR expenditure surpasses Rs 5,570 Cr in a decade
At the inauguration of the 3rd CIL CSR Conclave 2024, West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose highlighted the transformative impact of CSR projects in enhancing the lives of communities, particularly in the tribal areas of coal-producing regions.
Governor Bose praised CIL’s efforts, including its support for cancer patients, emphasizing that these initiatives contribute to the overall progress of the nation. He stated, "CSR initiatives are a powerful tool for transforming lives, especially in vulnerable areas."
Prasad confirmed that CIL has spent Rs 5,570 crore on CSR programs over the past decade, which have benefited numerous communities.
Coal Secretary Vikram Dev Dutt commended the positive effects of CSR activities by coal companies over the last ten years, noting their significant contributions to coal-bearing regions. Dutt stressed that communities in these regions are crucial stakeholders in the industry’s operations and suggested creating a theme-based CSR calendar to prioritize areas like education.
