The manufacturer of building materials Visaka Industries announced August 2023 as the opening date for its Rs 1.30 billion West Bengal factory. With the completion of the project, 3.5 lakh tonne of environmentally friendly boards and panels would be produced annually.
This will be the first such facility in the eastern state and Visaka's fifth cement fibre board mill overall.
With an investment of Rs 1.3 billion, the plant, which will open in Paschim Medinipur district in August of next year, would be their second production facility. There, the first factory for producing cement roofing sheets was built in 2003.
For 500 people in the Salboni area, the initiative will result in immediate work opportunities.
