MahaRERA Releases Guidelines for Senior Living Projects

The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has introduced model guidelines to regulate senior living projects in the state. These guidelines aim to ensure transparency, accountability, and quality standards in the development and operation of senior living facilities. Some key provisions outlined in the guidelines include mandatory registration of senior living projects under RERA, adherence to building norms for elderly-friendly infrastructure, provision of essential amenities such as wheelchair access and backup arrangements for power supply, and establishment of grievance redressal mechanisms for residents.

The guidelines also emphasise the importance of promoting a conducive and inclusive environment for senior citizens, with a focus on their safety, well-being, and quality of life. By standardizing regulations for senior living projects, MahaRERA aims to address the unique needs and concerns of elderly residents while fostering trust and confidence among homebuyers and investors in this segment. The introduction of these model guidelines reflects MahaRERA's commitment to promoting responsible and sustainable development in the real estate sector, ensuring that senior citizens are provided with dignified and comfortable living options tailored to their specific requirements. Moving forward, adherence to these guidelines is expected to enhance the overall quality and credibility of senior living projects in Maharashtra, contributing to the well-being and happiness of elderly residents and their families.
