CM Announces Plan to Build Rs 4Bn Cement Factory in Malkangiri
The cement factory project is part of broader efforts to integrate Malkangiri into India's railway network, through the Jeypore-Malkangiri and Malkangiri-Pandurangapuram via Bhadrachalam rail line projects. Majhi stated that the land acquisition process for these critical connectivity projects is being prioritized. The Chief Minister also outlined various infrastructure initiatives, including the construction of national highways and rural development projects. The Union government has allocated Rs 197.8 million for the construction of five high-level bridges and Rs 126.2 billion for four additional bridges to improve regional connectivity.
In the education sector, Majhi promised a minimum of two teachers per school and revealed plans to establish Godabarish model primary schools in every panchayat within three years. He also highlighted the implementation of the Subhadra Yojana to promote women's self-reliance, with a special focus on primitive tribes such as the Bonda and Didai.
To ensure the timely completion of these projects, the revenue divisional commissioner (south) and district collector will conduct fortnightly reviews. Majhi emphasized that the district administration must prioritize and expedite all departmental activities.
The review meeting was attended by School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond, Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi, and local MLAs, among other officials.
