Cortec releases compostable stretch film

Cortec has released compostable, corrosion-inhibiting stretch film by formulating EcoStretch powered by Nano Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitor Technology (VpCI).

This stretch wrap combines commercially compostable resins with VpCI for corrosion protection of multiple metal types including aluminum, galvanised steel, carbon steel, silicon steel, stainless steel, copper, brass, and cast iron.

EcoStretch meets the ASTM D6400 standard for commercial composting and aims to avoid tariffs, fines, and tip fees in areas where polyethylene is prohibited or restricted and is meant for stretch-wrapping metal equipment or components that need to be kept rust-free while minimising the environmental impact of traditional plastic packaging. After use, the EcoStretch can be sent to a commercial composting facility to turn into a soil amendment for future use rather than adding to plastic buildup in landfills or even worse, in the environment.

Cortec provides solutions for corrosion problems in packaging, metalworking, construction, electronics, oil and gas, and many other industries.
