The Coimbatore plant, the largest wind gearbox production facility in the world outside of China, is central to ZF Group's strategy in the wind energy sector. "ZF Wind Power is a leading gearbox supplier in India, serving both domestic and global markets under the 'Make in India for India and the world' initiative," said Professor Dr. Peter Laier, ZF Group's Member of the Board of Management. He highlighted that the company's investment in expanding production facilities demonstrates its confidence in the region's long-term growth potential.

Laier also emphasised ZF's commitment to sustainability, noting that the expanded facilities will play a crucial role in helping India double its wind power capacity by 2030. The ongoing strategic investments at the Coimbatore plant are aimed at increasing its manufacturing capacity from 9 GW to 12 GW annually to meet growing market demand.

"We are proud to be the only plant in India to achieve this milestone. Our focus on sustainability, along with ZF's tradition of quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction, has cemented our leadership in the Indian wind gearbox market," said Akash Passey, President of ZF Group in India. He also mentioned the company's earlier commitment to investing Rs 750 crore during the Global Investors Meet in Chennai this January, aimed at leveraging market potential and meeting customer needs.

Deepak Pohekar, Head of the Coimbatore Plant, added that the facility is a state-of-the-art manufacturing hub spread over more than 1.2 lakh square meters. In addition to production, its robust Research and Development Centre works on global solutions, making the plant a key service hub for ZF Wind Power. Pohekar noted that the facility's ability to adapt to both local and global customer demands has been instrumental in its success.
