Yerawada Metro Station in Pune opens for commuters

The Yerawada Metro station on the Vanaz-Ramwadi route is set to open for commuters starting Wednesday, nearly five months after services began on the stretch in March 2014.

On Tuesday, Maha Metro announced that trains would begin stopping at the station from Wednesday morning, adding that the change would not affect the existing timetable. Safety inspections of the station had been completed a couple of weeks earlier.

The station had remained closed to commuters to facilitate work on its entry and exit points after residents expressed concerns about potential traffic congestion on the main road. In response, Maha Metro and the Pune civic body devised a new plan for the station's entry and exit points. A Maha Metro official mentioned that all the formalities required for opening the station for commercial use had been completed.
