Union Minister: Pune airport new terminal to start on July 14

Union minister and Pune MP Murlidhar Mohol confirmed that Pune Metro Rail would commence operations from Civil Court station to Swargate the following month. He stated that during the project review, Pune Metro informed them about the planned commencement of service in August, with Mandai station along the route remaining non-operational until its completion. Mohol assured senior authorities that he had conveyed the urgent necessity of extending the metro service from Hinjewadi to Chandni Chowk to alleviate traffic congestion on the Bangalore-Mumbai bypass. "I have expressed to senior authorities the dire need for running a metro service from Hinjewadi to Chandni Chowk to reduce burgeoning traffic on the Bangalore-Mumbai bypass," Mohol said. "During the project review, Pune Metro informed us that it would start its service from Civil Court to Swargate in August. One station en route to Mandai will not be operational until the work is complete. I further assured them of personally pushing forward proposals for the extension of the metro route with the state and union governments," Mohol elaborated. Mohol also mentioned that the proposal for extending the route from Kothrud to Chandni Chowk has been submitted, emphasising the importance of developing the route between Hinjewadi and Chandni Chowk to ease traffic on the highway. Regarding the new terminal at Pune Airport, Mohol informed us that after significant delays, it would finally become operational on July 14. He indicated that the necessary security staff and equipment for the new terminal were nearly complete. "The new terminal at Pune Airport was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi just before the Lok Sabha elections, but its operation was delayed due to the unavailability of security staff. The issue had been raised by the Congress in the past, while the NCP (SP) plans to protest on July 8 against the delay in commencing operations," Mohol added.
