Stretching 160 kilometre and constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 26.60 billion, the highway aims to reduce travel time considerably. Once operational, vehicles will be able to travel at speeds exceeding 100 km/h, leading to lower fuel consumption and quicker commutes. The final phase involves completing a railway overbridge in Ujjain and minor work up to Kheda Khajuria, both of which are expected to be completed within the next three months. Additionally, the highway will establish a direct link to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, further strengthening regional transportation networks. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has also approved an extension of the highway to Shamgarh, which will further improve accessibility.

Construction commenced in November 2022 under NHAI’s supervision, with three companies—GHV, Ravi Infra, and MKC Infra—handling different sections. While Ravi Infra and MKC Infra have completed their portions, GHV encountered delays due to land acquisition challenges. Efforts have been intensified to expedite the remaining 10% of the project. Originally scheduled for completion by July 2024, the deadline has been extended by 207 days due to delays in GHV’s section. Authorities anticipate the project’s completion within the next month.

Upon full operation, the Ujjain-Garoth highway will significantly improve regional infrastructure, ease daily commutes, and contribute to economic growth by facilitating better trade and transportation in the area.
