Rs 460 million railway electrification project was launched in 2022 to connect the state with the national railway grid. Tripura got its first electric locomotive-powered train .

The train reached Jirania railway station in West Tripura district at 1.12 am. Jirania station is roughly 17 km from Agartala railway station.
