Trichy Airport Set to Soar with New Terminal and Expansion Plans


"The new terminal building at Trichy international airport is nearing completion and will be open to the public soon, announced Industries Minister T.R.B. Rajaa. He made this statement after inspecting the construction progress on Sunday, accompanied by School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi and District Collector M. Pradeep Kumar.

Responding to MPs' demands for expedited expansion of the airport, especially the new terminal, Rajaa highlighted the significant increase in passenger capacity. Currently catering to 1.5 million passengers, the new terminal boasts 60 counters and aims to handle 4.5 million. He also emphasized the growing number of flights, with 10 international and 4 domestic routes already operating, and plans for further expansion.

Regarding land acquisition for runway expansion, Rajaa assured smooth progress and no obstacles. He emphasized the need for airport development to keep pace with Tamil Nadu's rapid growth and attract foreign investments.

On the topic of passenger flights from Thanjavur, Rajaa confirmed ongoing discussions with Air Force authorities and expressed commitment to making this a reality."
