TIDCO to Begin Land Parcel Allocation in Sulur Starting Next Month


The Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) plans to allocate land to various companies for setting up manufacturing units at the Aerospace and Defence (A&D) Park in Varapatti, Sulur taluk, starting next month. TIDCO has already acquired 364.20 acres in the village for this purpose.

B. Krishnamoorthi, the project director at TIDCO, mentioned that they had obtained environmental clearance from the central government to establish the park. Of the total land, 260 acres are available for allocation, while the remaining area will be used for developing common facilities. He noted that many prominent companies have shown interest in securing land at the park. TIDCO plans to lease the land to these companies for a period of 99 years starting from the following month.

The Coimbatore district administration had facilitated the land acquisition for the project, with TIDCO paying ?108.76 crore. District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati confirmed that the land had been successfully handed over to TIDCO for further development.

Additionally, Krishnamoorthi shared that TIDCO intends to create plug-and-play office spaces at Varapatti for startups, making it Tamil Nadu’s first Aerospace and Defence Park. TIDCO is also planning to acquire an additional 197 acres near the Indian Air Force Station at Sulur Air Base to establish another A&D Park. This land will be acquired from villages in both Coimbatore and Tirupur districts.

A special unit has been formed by the Coimbatore district administration to manage the land acquisition process in these villages. An official stated that notifications to landowners would be issued soon, initiating the acquisition process.
