The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is set to launch the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure (H-CITI) program, which will significantly enhance the development of India's prominent IT hub. The initiative includes large-scale infrastructure projects, such as flyovers, underpasses, and road-widening efforts, aimed at not only improving connectivity but also tackling the city's traffic congestion issues. 

The H-CITI project, backed by a detailed traffic study from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), will carry out 38 projects across seven packages, amounting to Rs 59.42 billion, according to The New Indian Express. The study identified critical traffic bottlenecks and congestion points in the city, which will serve as the basis for the proposed upgrades. 

The first phase of key projects in Hyderabad will focus on transformative infrastructure improvements to address growing urban challenges. These include the construction of grade separators, flyovers, and underpasses to ease congestion at critical intersections. Besides, Railway Under Bridges (RuBs) and Road Over Bridges (RoBs) will be built to ensure smooth and uninterrupted traffic flow. Major roads will undergo widening to accommodate the rising volume of vehicles, while pedestrian-friendly infrastructure will be developed to improve safety and walkability. 

Furthermore, tunnel corridors and advanced stormwater drainage systems will be introduced to enhance flood management and ensure long-term road sustainability. These initiatives are designed to not only address current needs but also future-proof the city’s infrastructure. 

To elevate Hyderabad's road infrastructure, several critical road-widening projects will span 6.585 km, with key expansions planned in high-traffic areas such as Jubilee Hills, Film Nagar, Check Post, Maharaja, KBR Park, Mugdha, Agrasen, and Cancer Hospital. In addition, the city will witness the construction of multi-level flyovers and underpasses stretching 5.82 km at vital locations, including Khajaguda (1.52 km), Serilingampally IIIT (3.25 km), and Wipro Junction (1.05 km). These developments are set to significantly improve connectivity, reduce congestion, and ensure smoother travel across some of Hyderabad’s busiest zones.
