Suzlon bags India’s largest wind energy project in Gujarat


Wind energy major, Suzlon Group, on Monday announced it has bagged the order for India's largest wind energy project in Gujarat from NTPC Green Energy Limited. The project involves installing 370 wind turbine generators with a 1,166MW capacity.

They will power two NTPC Renewable Energy Limited projects and one Indian Oil NTPC Green Energy Private Limited project here. The project will not just strengthen Gujarat's position as a leader in renewable energy but also marks a significant boost for India's wind energy sector. Suzlon will oversee the project's execution, including equipment supply, installation, commissioning and ongoing maintenance services in Gujarat. Girish Tanti, vice chairman, Suzlon Group, said, "The partnership with NTPC Green Energy Limited will set new benchmarks for wind energy projects in the country." "With this order, Suzlon's cumulative order book now stands at 5GW as of Sep 2024. The project will play a crucial role in India's drive towards energy self-sufficiency and NTPC's goal of achieving 60GW renewable energy capacity by 2032," the company said in a statement. |
