Telangana has secured a monumental Rs 45,500 crore investment from Sun Petrochemicals during the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, marking one of the largest-ever investments in the state.
This landmark deal will significantly boost Telangana’s energy sector, particularly in green energy, and is expected to generate thousands of jobs, further cementing the state's position as a leader in India's renewable energy transition.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Sun Petrochemicals outlines the development of three large pumped storage hydro power projects with a combined capacity of 3,400 MW across Nagarkurnool, Mancherial, and Mulugu districts. Additionally, integrated solar power plants totalling 5,440 MW will be developed. These projects are expected to generate over 7,000 jobs during construction.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy hailed the deal as a major milestone in Telangana's economic and sustainable development strategy. He emphasised that the state is committed to diversifying investments in sectors such as renewable energy and manufacturing, creating ample job opportunities for the youth.
