State Govt. Earmarks 340 Acres For Industrial Parks

The Kerala government has earmarked 340 acres across Thiruvananthapuram for industrial parks to support port-led industrialisation driven by the Vizhinjam Port.

The identified locations, including Neyyattinkara, Balaramapuram, and Kattakada, are 20–30 km from the port. The state revenue department's approval is awaited before Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Kinfra), the nodal agency for the project, begins infrastructure development.

A master plan for port-based industrialisation proposes eight townships, forming part of an outer area growth corridor. The recent Vizhinjam Conclave attracted 51 investment proposals for logistics parks, warehouses, and manufacturing units. The government is now considering direct acquisition over the earlier land-pooling model.

Plans also include a 6.3 sq. km logistics and industrial hub in Vizhinjam and a 4.01 sq. km health tourism hub in Kovalam. Additionally, a special economic zone (SEZ) by the Adani Group is among the upcoming projects.
