Solar Scheme Helps 2,448 Power Consumers to Turn Self-Reliant

The popularity of household solar projects in the state has gone through the roof, so much so that MSEDCL will no longer need to purchase short-term power from outside sources, according to govt officials. A central scheme that provides a subsidy of up to 60% for installation of solar panels in households has played a large part in hitting this milestone. Of the 13,831 applications from MMR for PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, 2,448 households have started receiving free electricity. MSEDCL’s recent announcement of free solar net meters for rooftop panels has also got many consumers to make the switch to this green energy.
