Sitapur to Ayodhya road to be completed in 20 minutes soon
Commuters are set to experience smoother and faster travel with the upcoming completion of a long-awaited four-lane flyover connecting Indiranagar's Sector-19 and the Khurramnagar crossing. The Rs 1.50-billion project, which is expected to be finished by December, will benefit around 1.5 lakh vehicles daily by alleviating congestion along the heavily trafficked Polytechnic Crossing-Kursi road corridor. This new flyover will improve traffic flow through Indiranagar, Vikasnagar, Jankipuram, and neighboring areas, offering significant travel time savings. Spanning 1.36 km, the flyover's construction began in 2021 and aims to reduce the travel time between Ayodhya Road and Sitapur highway to roughly 20 minutes, a major convenience for daily commuters.
Diwakar Tripathi, a representative of Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and supervisor of the Munshipulia-Ayodhya road flyovers, discussed the project's regional impact. He mentioned that while the flyover had encountered delays due to the area's heavy traffic, efforts were being made to ensure its swift progress. He explained that the busy nature of the route had limited the time available for construction but assured that work was being done to ensure the project’s timely completion.
Tripathi further noted that one lane from the Jagrani side was nearly completed, and work on the remaining side was expected to finish by December. Officials from the national highways wing of the PWD confirmed that safety features, including streetlights, view cutters, and reflector strips, had been installed to enhance safety during night-time driving.
A senior PWD official also mentioned that only a few tasks on the Kukrail river flyover remained, and once completed, the Ministry of Transport would be asked to finalize the inauguration date. Final touches, including drainage system installation and service road upgrades, are currently underway. The inauguration, which is likely to be attended by Rajnath Singh, is anticipated to be a significant event for the city.
