Sembcorp Launches 588 MW Solar Plant in Oman
Sembcorp Industries has inaugurated its 588 MW Manah 2 Solar Independent Power Project in Oman, marking the company's largest utility-scale solar farm globally. The project, completed four months ahead of schedule, was officially launched by Bilarab bin Haitham al Said, the second son of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq.
This marks Sembcorp's first greenfield renewable energy development in the Middle East and will provide clean energy to approximately 60,000 households, contributing to a significant reduction in carbon emissions.
Vipul Tuli, CEO of Sembcorp Middle East, said, “The inauguration of Manah 2 Solar Power Plant is a pivotal milestone in our commitment to supporting Oman’s transition to a sustainable future and aligns with Oman Vision 2040. This project strengthens our partnership with Nama Power and Water Procurement Company.”
The project is a key element of Oman's renewable energy strategy, enhancing the country's energy portfolio in line with its long-term sustainability goals.
