Secunderabad-Mahabubnagar doubling & electrification project completed

The South Central Railway (SCR) has finished the Secunderabad-Mahabubnagar doubling and electrification project and commissioned it as well.

The doubling of this significant section would improve rail connectivity between Hyderabad and other major cities, including Bengaluru, Tirupati, Kurnool, Anantapur, Kadapa, and additional southern regions.

The last stretch's doubling between Gollapalli and Divitipalli, covering a distance of 10 km, and the electrification of the 25km of the last stretch between Gollapalli and Mahabubnagar was finished a week ago.

In 2015-16, the project was approved for a distance of 85 km at an approximate cost of Rs 774 crore and was implemented by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL).

As a part of MMTS Phase I & II, the section between Secunderabad-Umdanagar, covering a distance of 28 km, has already been completed.

Sanjeev Kishore, SCR General Manager, congratulated SCR officials and said the project completion would enhance the section's capacity and assist in enhancing the connectivity of southern cities with Hyderabad and the Secunderabad region.
