The Solar Energy Corporation of India's (SECIs) auction of 2.5 GW round-the-clock (RTC) grid-connected renewable energy projects has been won by Hindustan Thermal Projects, JSW Neo Energy, ReNew Samir Urja, Greenko Energies and Power Mech Projects. Of all the five, the lowest bidder, Hindustan Thermal Projects, quoted Rs 3.01 per unit for supplying 2.5 GW electricity. According to the bidding document, the bidder will have to match the L1 tariff to acquire the contract. Greenko Energies quoted Rs 3.18 per unit for supplying 1,001 MW electricity, ReNew Samir Urja quoted Rs 3.19 apiece for 600 MW electricity, Power Mech Projects quoted Rs 3.30 per unit. Lastly, JSW Neo has quoted Rs 3.45 apiece for 600 MW electricity. SECI has called for the Expression of Interest (EoI) for the procurement of a 1000 MWh battery storage system. A pre-bid conference was also scheduled for 28 October, and then the tender would be floated in November. India has planned to use a battery storage system to promote renewable energy, maximise the use of the transmission systems and merchant capacity by the energy storage system developer for selling in the power market.
