Schneider Electric to Automate 2000 MLD Bhandup Plant


Schneider Electric has secured a contract to automate Mumbai’s Bhandup water treatment plant, which processes 2000 MLD (Million Litres per Day) of water. The initiative supports the Maharashtra government’s mission to provide safe drinking water to 22 million residents.

As part of the project, Schneider Electric's EcoStruxure solutions will be implemented, including the EcoStruxure Process Expert M580-EPA Automation platform, Altivar Process Drives, PRISMA LV panel boards, Power Quality solutions, Easergy relays, transformers, MV switchboards, and UPS systems.

Deepak Sharma, Zone President - Greater India and MD & CEO of Schneider Electric India, emphasized the company's dedication to offering advanced digital solutions for the water and wastewater sector. He highlighted that automation plays a vital role in addressing India’s water challenges and promoting sustainability.

The Bhandup facility will become part of India’s largest single water treatment complex, with a combined capacity of 4500 MLD, and will integrate with Schneider Electric’s existing Water Command and Control Centre.

Yogen Lal, CEO of Welspun Enterprises, expressed that their collaboration with Schneider Electric facilitates the integration of automation solutions, enhancing operational efficiency and reliability, and marks a significant advancement in improving water accessibility in Mumbai.
