SBPDCL faced significant challenges in managing the electrical distribution system due to rising energy consumption, necessitating advanced solutions for improved operational efficiency. Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure Grid solutions played a crucial role in transforming the network, offering advanced monitoring capabilities and round-the-clock operational uptime. The implementation of these technologies has led to a 90 per cent improvement in power reliability, while energy consumption and cost savings have reached up to 80 and 60 per cent, respectively. Additionally, engineering costs and time have been optimised by 70 per cent, contributing to overall cost-effectiveness and streamlined operations.

A key aspect of this modernization effort was the establishment of a State-of-the-art Command-and-Control Center and a Disaster Recovery Center, facilitating real-time monitoring and decision-making. These centers have enhanced grid connectivity and reliability, strengthening Bihar’s power infrastructure. The project also included the installation of 305 Ring Main Units (RMUs) to improve distribution reliability and 550 Fault Passage Indicators (FPIs) on overhead lines, ensuring faster fault detection and response.

This initiative reinforces Schneider Electric’s role in supporting India’s energy transition by building resilient and sustainable power distribution systems. The modernization of Bihar’s grid infrastructure aligns with broader efforts to enhance the country’s energy sector and drive infrastructural growth.
