RIICO to establish two industrial zones in Rajasthan

Ashutosh Pednekar, chairman of the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation, wrote to RIICO MD recommending the establishment of two distinct industrial zones for the purpose of encouraging solar component manufacturing in the state.

Now, RIICO wants to find two places that make solar components: one in western Rajasthan and another in the NCR. According to RIICO MD Shivprasad Nakate, the RRECL chairman has sent them a letter. Nakate stated, "We are working on the letter."

Rajasthan is a nation-wide center for the production of solar energy, but the component manufacturing industry has not taken off there. Renew Power and the state government recently reached an agreement to establish a solar panel manufacturing facility in Mahindra World City. Another company that has been producing modules in the state is Insolation Energy.

In fact, at the "Invest Rajasthan" summit, the state government signed memorandums of understanding and letters of intent for a total of Rs 8.85 trillion in the renewable sector. Pednekar has proposed two component manufacturing zones in the letter: one in western Rajasthan, the state's solar capital, and another in Bhiwadi, the NCR region's automotive and glass manufacturing center.
