Rashtriya Chemicals Awards Rs.1,000-Crore Contract
Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Ltd (RCF) has awarded a Rs.1,000-crore contract to engineering giant Larsen & Toubro (L&T) for the construction of a new fertiliser plant in Maharashtra. This strategic development is part of RCF’s plan to boost fertiliser production capacity in India, supporting the country’s agricultural sector and reducing reliance on imports. The project will focus on enhancing the supply of key fertilisers used by farmers to improve crop yield, thereby contributing to national food security.
The new plant, to be built in Maharashtra, will help expand RCF’s production capabilities for urea and other critical fertilisers. By awarding the contract to L&T, one of India’s largest engineering and construction firms, RCF ensures that the project will benefit from advanced technology and efficient construction practices. The plant’s development will involve state-of-the-art infrastructure aimed at boosting operational efficiency and meeting environmental regulations.
This investment aligns with the government’s broader goal of promoting self-sufficiency in agricultural inputs. Fertilisers are crucial to improving the productivity of India’s agricultural sector, and the construction of the new facility is expected to have a significant impact on meeting domestic demand. Additionally, the project will create employment opportunities during its construction phase and further support the agricultural economy once operational.
L&T’s expertise in delivering large-scale infrastructure projects will ensure timely and efficient execution of this ambitious project. With this contract, RCF continues to strengthen its position in the chemical and fertiliser industry, contributing to both the industrial and agricultural growth of the nation. The new plant is anticipated to play a key role in supporting India’s farmers, driving sustainable agricultural practices, and ensuring the country’s food security needs are met in the coming years.
