RailTel awarded Navratna status; manages Wi-Fi at 6,112 railway stations


RailTel Corporation of India, a Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Ministry of Railways, has been awarded the prestigious Navratna status by the Department of Public Enterprises, according to a statement released on Sunday. This recognition makes RailTel the 22nd CPSE to achieve this status, a significant milestone in its 24-year history.

RailTel operates one of the largest public Wi-Fi networks in the world, spanning 6,112 railway stations. Founded on September 26, 2000, RailTel initially served as a telecom service provider for Indian Railways and has since evolved into one of India?s largest neutral telecom infrastructure providers.
