Prayagraj Airport, Roads to be Revamped
Prayagraj Airport is expanding rapidly. It will be the first airport in the state with six aerobridges. Day and night flight service: Under the CAT-2 system, flights will now be available both day and night. Increase in passenger facilities: The number of check-in counters has been in- creased from 11 to 42.
The air port's capacity will now be able to serve 2,000 passengers per day This year, the capacity of the current terminal building of Prayagraj Airport has increased from 350 to 850 passengers. Another taxi-way has also been constructed to connect the main runway to the terminal at the airport. At the same time, for the first time this year, a direct flight to Hyderabad also started. The Raipur flight which was closed last year was resumed. Akasa Air also started a direct flight from Prayagraj to Mumbai.
UPSRTC has started electric buses for Maha Kumbh. Bus travel was made smart with on line booking and vehicle location tracking systems. New city buses were started from the old city Passengers got great relief due to shuttle bus service and reduction in fare of AC buses.
As Maha Kumbh is round the corner, the Sangam City is witnessing development and beautification works on a war footing to cater to the needs of an estimated crowd of 40 crore visiting Prayagraj during the mega fair beginning Jan 13.
In preparation for the Maha Kumbh, railways increased facilities in Prayagraj by INR 5,00 crore. Grand buildings were constructed by expanding Prayag and Phaphamau railway stations. The number of 12-metr wide footover bridges and platforms was increased.
For the first time, baby fun rooms were arranged at the stations for children. For the improvement Prayagraj station, Chota Baghad underpass freed thousands commuters from regular traffic jams. Likewise, at Phaphama station, entrance gates have bee built on both sides.
