Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy & Consumer Affairs, Shri Pralhad Joshi, visited the world’s first and largest Integrated Renewable Energy Storage Project at Pinnapuram, near Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh. Set up by Greenko, the $4.2 billion project combines 4000 MW solar, 1000 MW wind, and 1680 MW pumped hydropower, with a storage capacity of 10,080 MWh per day in a single cycle. 

Applauding the project's scale and progress, the Minister hailed it as a global benchmark in clean energy and a testament to India’s green leadership under Prime Minister Modi. He also praised the Andhra Pradesh Government, led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, for its enabling policies. 

Greenko’s Group CEO & MD, Anil Chalamalasetty, highlighted the project's role in decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors like green steel, green aluminum, and green hydrogen. The initiative is expected to avoid 3.3 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually, drive regional economic growth, create jobs, and promote ancillary industries. 

With Greenko’s Intelligent RE Cloud Storage Platform and India’s One Nation, One Grid policy, the project aims to produce the world’s lowest-cost green molecules, furthering India’s contribution to global decarbonization efforts. 

Earlier in the day, Minister Joshi conducted an aerial survey and visited key components of the massive renewable energy complex.
