PM to inaugurate Arunachal’s first airport on October 30


Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Arunachal Pradesh on October 30 to inaugurate the Donyi Polo Airport near Itanagar. Chief Minister Pema Khandu recently met the Prime Minister in New Delhi and requested him to inaugurate the greenfield airport at Hollongi.

Developed by the Airport Authority of India (AAI) at an estimated cost of Rs 6.45 billion, the Donyi Polo airport, spanning an area of 4,100 sq m, has eight check-in counters and can accommodate a peak traffic of up to 200.

Indigo Airlines had on October 18 successfully test-landed its aircraft at the new airport, the first in Arunachal Pradesh.
