Pimpri Chinchwad to Boost Infrastructure with Dapodi-Nigdi Road Approval
The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has approved the development of the Dapodi-Nigdi road, a vital route that will begin from the Empire Estate Bridge and pass through D-Mart. This decision was made during the latest standing committee meeting at the civic headquarters. The project is essential as the industrial township faces the challenges of rapid urbanisation and increasing traffic congestion. The new road aims to alleviate traffic jams and enhance connectivity in a densely populated area. Additionally, expert consultants will be appointed to handle the technical aspects of the project, with tenders for their appointment already cleared.
The approval also includes the development of a road within the Indolink Eurocity premises, reflecting the PCMC's commitment to integrated development and future-oriented industrial zoning. This is seen as a step toward supporting economic growth through strategic infrastructure planning.
In addition to road developments, the committee has made significant decisions to strengthen public services and education. This includes funding for the replacement of UPS battery systems in various departments to ensure uninterrupted services. Approvals were also granted for the procurement of Xerox machines and the printing of Marathi textbooks for municipal schools, emphasizing the corporation's focus on inclusive education for marginalized communities.
PCMC also approved the procurement of machinery to enforce regulations against unauthorized constructions in areas like Kaveri Nagar, Venu Nagar, and Kaspattevasti, as well as Wakad, Punawale, and Tathawade. These areas have experienced unregulated growth, which the corporation aims to control through stricter urban planning and environmental safeguards.
Furthermore, the approval of expenses for underground cable laying and road restoration across the city signals a concerted effort toward modernizing infrastructure and maintaining liveable urban spaces. These measures collectively represent a phase of urban renewal, with a focus on improving the city’s infrastructure, education, and regulatory framework, all contributing to a more resilient and organized urban environment.
