Chief General Manager Govind Kumar Mishra stated that the unit was originally planned to run at full capacity for 72 hours to ensure operational efficiency and optimal oil usage. However, it surpassed expectations by running continuously for 87 hours, generating 58 million units of electricity at an average output of 666 megawatts. This milestone successfully completed the commercial production prerequisites.

Mishra acknowledged the contributions of key personnel, including Production Corporation Chairman Dr. Ashish Goyal, Managing Director Dr. Rupesh Kumar, BHEL's Project Director JK Singh, and Construction Manager Virendra Singh.

The foundation for this 660 MW unit was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019. While the project was initially set for completion in January 2022, unforeseen delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic pushed back the timeline.

With this new addition, the Panki Power Plant is set to play a crucial role in strengthening Uttar Pradesh’s electricity supply, reinforcing the state's energy infrastructure.
