Over 3.5 million houses built in Uttar Pradesh under PMAY-Gramin


At a state-level monitoring committee meeting for the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin, it was reported that the state government had nearly met its target of constructing 36.60 lakh homes from 2016-17 to 2024-25. A total of 35.88 lakh houses were completed, while 72,000 were still under construction.

An official mentioned that model houses had been built in 410 development blocks, with work ongoing in another 144. The official also provided details on the progress for the 2018-19 to 2023-24 period. Out of a target of 2.57 lakh houses, construction of 2.52 lakh houses had been completed, and 3,929 houses were still being built.

Specific allocations were made to marginalized communities. The Musahar tribe received 47,795 houses, the Vantangia tribe received 4,838, and the Tharu tribe was allocated 3,233 houses. Additionally, the Kol, Sahariya, Chero, Baiga, Nat, Pachaiya Lohar, Gadhaiya Lohar, and Boksa tribes received various allocations. Families affected by leprosy, natural disasters, kala-azar, Japanese Encephalitis (JE), Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES), and those with differently abled members were also provided housing.

For 2024-25, 94,294 houses had been allocated, with about 21,000 approvals granted. The official noted that in 2023-24, differently abled individuals were added to the priority list for Mukhyamantri Awas, receiving 75% of the allocated houses.
