Over 3 crore workers registered on e-SHRAM portal to get govt benefits

Minister of Labour and Employment Bhupender Yadav has announced that the National Database of Unorganised Workers (NDUW) witnessed over three crore workers registering themselves on the e-SHRAM portal.

He said that the registrations crossed over three crores. The registered workers will be able to get government benefits and schemes easily.

The 117th Governing Body Meeting and 78th Annual General Body Meeting of the National Board for Workers Education and Development were held in Hyderabad. Vrijesh Updadhyay, Chairman of the Board and the Chief Labour Commissioner, DPS Negi, chaired the meeting and took many important decisions.

Negi said that earlier, the government did not have any way to provide benefits to the unorganised workers during the Covid-19 pandemic. But now, the e-SHRAM portal will serve as a single card across India to provide government benefits across the country, and it will be a One Nation One Card.

In another development, it provided benefits to 1,019 contract workers, and a Memorandum of Settlement was signed between the management of Celebi and the workers, represented by the Airport Employees Union.

Each unorganised worker will get Rs 58,400, and the total amount to be disbursed to the workers this year is Rs 6,08,41,600.
