Odhisha's $49M Plan to Revamp Cities


Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has presented the 2025-26 budget, unveiling the Samriddhi City Scheme with a $49 million allocation to modernize the state’s urban infrastructure. The initiative aligns with Odisha’s long-term vision, Viksit Odisha @2036, aiming to transform cities into economic and sustainable hubs.

The scheme will focus on enhancing urban infrastructure, developing economic hubs, implementing smart solutions, and promoting green, resilient cities. It also emphasizes citizen participation to create inclusive and future-ready urban centers.

CM Majhi highlighted the scheme’s significance, stating, “This initiative underscores our dedication to developing vibrant urban centers that support economic progress and sustainable living. With strategic planning and robust infrastructure, Odisha is setting new standards in urban governance.”

The funds will be strategically allocated across multiple cities, with project details and beneficiary areas to be finalized in the coming months. The Samriddhi City Scheme stands as Odisha’s flagship urban development initiative, positioning the state as a leader in smart and sustainable urbanization.
