NTPC Renewable Energy Seeks Bids for 600 MW Solar Project
NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) has invited bids for a land and power evacuation package to develop 600 MW of solar power projects in Tumkur, Karnataka. The bid submission deadline is 4 April 2025, with the opening scheduled for the same day. Interested bidders must pay a document fee of $259.41.
The scope of work includes securing land near the Tumkur substation, handling lease agreements for private land, conducting topography and geo-technical investigations, and land fencing. Additionally, bidders must facilitate grid connectivity, as well as design and construct pooling substations, terminal bays, and transmission lines. The contract also requires operating and maintaining these facilities for three years.
Successful bidders must secure 5 acres/MW of government or private land, either as freehold or on lease for at least 29 years and 11 months. They are also responsible for ensuring that the land slope does not exceed 10% to accommodate tracker-based module mounting structures. Lease payments to landowners must be made upfront, with periodic reimbursement from NTPC REL.
Eligibility Criteria Only Class-I local suppliers can participate in the bidding process. Bidders must have prior experience in land procurement for solar or wind projects of at least 100 MW cumulative capacity, including one project of at least 50 MW. Alternatively, they should have executed an industrial sector project worth at least $5.4 million as a developer or EPC contractor in power, steel, oil & gas, petrochemical, fertilizer, cement, or coal mining sectors.
Additionally, bidders must have commissioned an electrical substation of at least 33 kV, including voltage breakers and power transformers, operational for at least one year in non-renewable sectors or six months in renewable sectors.
Financially, bidders must demonstrate a minimum annual turnover of $5.4 million over the last three financial years.
NTPC REL’s Renewable Energy Expansion This bid follows NTPC REL’s previous tender in December 2024, which sought bids for a 1.4 GW balance of system package for solar power projects in Lalitpur (2 x 300 MW) and Chitrakoot (2 x 400 MW) in Uttar Pradesh. This reflects NTPC REL’s continued commitment to expanding India's renewable energy capacity and strengthening infrastructure for sustainable power generation.
