NTPC Achieves Fastest-Ever 400 Billion Units Generation

State-run power giant NTPC Ltd has achieved its fastest-ever generation of 400 billion units (BU) of electricity in the ongoing financial year, reaching the milestone on March 1, 2025, the company announced.

This feat was accomplished in just 335 days, 12 days ahead of the previous fiscal year when NTPC crossed the same mark on March 13, 2024.

NTPC, India's largest integrated power utility, plays a crucial role in the country’s energy sector, meeting one-fourth of its power requirements. The company currently has an installed capacity of over 77 GW, with an additional 29.5 GW under construction, including 9.6 GW of renewable energy projects.

Committed to clean energy, NTPC aims to achieve 60 GW of renewable capacity by 2032. Beyond power generation, the company is expanding into e-mobility, battery storage, pumped hydro storage, waste-to-energy, nuclear power, and green hydrogen solutions. Additionally, NTPC has been actively participating in bidding for power distribution in Union Territories.

“This achievement is a testament to NTPC’s operational excellence and commitment to powering India’s growth,” the company stated.
