Northeast Frontier Railway Earns Rs 350 Million from Advertisements
The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has made notable strides in boosting non-fare revenue through innovative advertising strategies from April to December 2024. By optimising non-operational revenue sources, NFR successfully generated approximately Rs 350 million through advertisements at station premises and on trains during this period.
Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of NFR, highlighted that digital advertisements at prominent stations like Guwahati and Kamakhya have provided businesses with a platform to reach targeted audiences while enriching the passenger experience with engaging content.
Strategic advertisement placements at high-traffic locations such as the Siliguri City Booking Office and the circulating areas of New Jalpaiguri and Katihar stations have also contributed to boosting revenue. Additionally, outdoor advertisements, including hoardings and flex boards, were strategically positioned in high-visibility areas, resulting in approximately Rs 18.2 million in earnings. Notable locations for hoardings include Guwahati, New Jalpaiguri, Rangiya, and New Bongaigaon stations, along with key infrastructure points such as the Sivoke Station bridge and Damdim, which have capitalised on high foot traffic.
Sharma emphasised that this initiative has offered brands an extensive opportunity to connect with large audiences while maximising the value of railway assets. In addition to traditional advertising, NFR has also incorporated innovative methods, such as vinyl wrapping on train coaches, which generated an additional Rs 10 million in revenue.
