New Expressway to connect Noida-Ghaziabad-Kanpur, benefit 10 cities

The progress of the greenfield corridor project was mentioned, indicating that travellers would soon be able to travel from Ghaziabad to Kanpur in approximately three and a half hours. It was stated by the company responsible for creating the Detail Project Report (DPR) that three alignment options had already been presented to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) headquarters, and a decision would be made in July.

According to officials, both the State Government and the Government of India were simultaneously working on several projects. Consequently, special consideration would be given to the alignment to ensure that there would be no conflicts with other projects. There was also a possibility of connecting it with other initiatives. Once the alignment was finalised, the DPR would be prepared.

The NHAI would construct the 380 km Green Field highway in accordance with the Green Highway Policy. This highway would pass through ten districts, significantly reducing the travel time from Ghaziabad to Kanpur to just three and a half hours. Currently, the NH-91 links Ghaziabad and Kanpur, spanning a distance of 468 kilometers. According to officials, the new highway would connect Ghaziabad and Kanpur via the border regions of Hapur, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Kasganj, Etah, Farrukhabad, and Kannauj. The NH-91 and Greenfield Highway would be 20 km apart.

The question was raised about the areas where land acquisition would be required for this project. Additionally, it was mentioned that the DPR would contain all the necessary information, and the state government would provide assistance in completing the land acquisition process. The DPR would determine the precise location of the elevated segment of the corridor, the subway, and the entry and exit points. Once approval was obtained, work on the project would commence. The route between Ghaziabad and Kanpur would be adorned with abundant greenery.
