New Delhi Railway Station will be open during redevelopment

The Railway Ministry has informed the media and citizens that the New Delhi train station will be open during the renovations as part of the Amrit Bharat initiative. Regarding the reports of the closure of the New Delhi railway station, Deepak Kumar, Chief Public Relations Officer, Northern Railway, emphasised that it is made clear that there is no immediate plan to stop train operations at the station. Kumar said he had seen reports on a number of news websites claiming the railways were planning to move all train operations from the New Delhi station to other stations in the city. He underlined once more how false these claims are and how they should be confusing people. Previously, a clarification on the matter was also released by the Ministry of Railways. The Railway Ministry further stated that it may be noted that when a railway station undergoes redevelopment, a few trains are diverted or regulated as per requirements. Information about such diversions and regulations of trains is notified well in advance.

The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme was recently introduced with the aim of improving and updating railway stations across the Indian Railways network. Currently, the plan calls for the modernization and upgrading of 1275 stations along the Indian Railway network.
