NER Infrastructure Boost with Roads & Rail

The North Eastern Region (NER) has witnessed major infrastructure development in roads and railways over the last five years (2019-20 to 2023-24). The projects, executed by the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRT&H), Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), and Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), aim to boost economic activities, trade, tourism, and employment opportunities.

In Tripura, the MoRT&H, MoRD, and MDoNER allocated Rs 49.88 billion, Rs 6.0671 billion, and Rs 3.4782 billion respectively for road projects. Improved connectivity has led to better market access, increased tourism, cross-border trade, lower logistics costs, and new job opportunities.
