NCRTC Head starts inspecting Namo Bharat corridor in Delhi


According to a statement released, Shalabh Goyal, Managing Director of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), conducted an inspection of the Namo Bharat corridor from Meerut South Station to Sarai Kale Khan Station in Delhi. The inspection began at Meerut South Station, where construction has been completed, and preparations for the operational launch of Namo Bharat trains are underway. During the inspection, he closely examined the station's operational readiness and reviewed the parking facilities. The statement also mentioned that the Meerut Metro will originate from Meerut South Station, which will enhance convenience for residents travelling from Meerut South to Modipuram. It was noted that the station has three platforms, two designated for Namo Bharat trains and one for Meerut Metro. The eight-kilometre section from Modi Nagar North Station to Meerut South is expected to open soon to the public, providing a quick connection from Meerut South to Ghaziabad. The statement further reported that trial runs for Namo Bharat trains are currently ongoing between Modi Nagar North and Meerut South stations. Goyal's inspection also covered the corridor from Modi Nagar North to Sahibabad, the operational segment of the RRTS, during which he travelled on a Namo Bharat train. He interacted with station controllers, train operators, and other operational staff to understand their daily challenges. He also evaluated passenger-centric amenities such as push buttons, PSD, stretcher space, and the train's high-speed capabilities. According to the statement, Goyal praised the cleanliness of the stations and encouraged officials to maintain high cleanliness standards continuously. Currently, Namo Bharat trains are operational across eight stations in the 34-kilometre section from Sahibabad to Modi Nagar North. With the upcoming launch of services from Modi Nagar North to Meerut South, the operational length of the corridor will extend to 42 kilometres, encompassing nine RRTS stations. Goyal's inspection also included an assessment of the ongoing construction activities at New Ashok Nagar and Sarai Kale Khan elevated stations in the Delhi section. He acknowledged the challenges faced by officials in the rapid construction work and motivated them to strictly adhere to safety and security norms. The statement mentioned that the Delhi section of the RRTS corridor spans 14 kilometres, with nine kilometres elevated and five kilometres underground. It highlighted the completion of viaduct construction in the Delhi section and noted that the three under-construction stations are nearing completion. Efforts to integrate these stations with other transport modes are underway.
