More than 80 illegal farm houses demolished in Gurugram


On Monday, over 80 illegal farm houses were demolished, which were being developed in two colonies of 30 acres each in Kiranki village, near Westin Sohna resort, Sohna.

The enforcement wing of town and country planning received complaints against farmhouses being carved out illegally on agricultural land. The farmhouses and the road network razed using five earthmovers in the presence of the police force.

Regarding the illegal farmhouses, based on the complaints, Ashish Sharma, assistant town planner, told the media he visited the site along with his team and on inspection, found that the first colony of around 40 farmhouses was developed on the land. He added that the developer constructed the road network while the boundary wall was under construction.

He also said that there was no permission granted from the concerned authorities for developing the farmhouses, and it is a violation of the Act.

The district town planner, RS Batth, said that the road network and the boundary walls were demolished. The second colony, built on 30 acres of land each, was developed around 1 km away from the first colony, and around 15 farmhouses boundary wall was already constructed. The developer has even installed solar street lights, he said.

Most of the boundary walls and road network were demolished in the presence of 150 police personnel. According to the norms, the farmhouse colony can be developed on 25 acres of land after permission and license from the town and country planning (enforcement) department.
