MMRDA Enhances Mumbai Metro's Multi-Modal Connectivity

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is initiating measures to improve pedestrian access and connectivity around Mumbai Metro stations. Collaborating with the pedestrian advocacy group Walking Project, MMRDA aims to widen footpaths and construct foot overbridges (FOBs) to facilitate safer and more convenient access to metro stations.

Key proposals include constructing FOBs to link the Ram Mandir suburban railway station with the Goregaon (East) metro station on Metro Line 7, connecting the Goregaon (East) metro station with Nirlon Knowledge Park, and linking the Aarey Metro Station with Oberoi Mall. Additionally, in Vile Parle, where Metro Line 2B is under construction, efforts are underway to enhance connectivity between the metro and suburban railway stations, as well as nearby colleges.

These initiatives are part of MMRDA's broader strategy to integrate various modes of transportation, ensuring a seamless commuting experience for Mumbai's residents.
