Mineral production index for mining sector rose 4.6% to 129 in Feb


The index of mineral production for the mining and quarrying sector stood at 129 in February 2023, up 4.6 percent from the previous month.

According to preliminary data from the Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), the cumulative growth for the April-February period of 2022-23 over the same period last year was 5.7%.

Phosphorite (60.2%), coal (8.3%), iron ore (7.4%), lead concentrate (7.3%), natural gas (3.2%), zinc concentrate (1.1%), limestone (0.9%), and copper concentrate (0.5%) were the most important minerals that increased in February 2023 compared to the previous year.
